Reimagining Child and Family Well-Being

Massachusetts is home to world-class healthcare, education, and innovation Yet in spite of rich opportunities for some, too many children and families remain vulnerable.

A single crisis can trigger unnecessary involvement in child protective systems:

  • housing instability
  • loss of employment
  • lack of childcare
  • untreated behavioral health needs
  • food insecurity

These are not acts of intentional harm. They are often the effects of economic strain and unmet needs.

Families experiencing poverty—particularly Black and Brown families—are disproportionately reported to and investigated by the child protection system, often in situations where earlier support could help prevent crises from escalating.

ChildThrive Initiative is working to change that.

Through research, community partnership, and prevention-focused solutions, we can reimagine a more effective and compassionate approach to child and family well-being in Massachusetts–one that strengthens families, supports communities, and helps prevent unnecessary family separation and unnecessary involvement in child protective services.

Your support of ChildThrive Initiative will help advance this work for children and families across Massachusetts.
